Dr. Bret Nelson, MD, FACEP
Dr. Bret Nelson is a Professor and Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine and the System Chief of the Ultrasound Division. He trained in Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and has been engaged in all levels of undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education for twenty years.
He has lectured around the world on point of care ultrasound and medical education, and received ACEP’s National Faculty Teaching Award and the SAEM Ultrasound Faculty Education Award.
He has served on the board of directors and chaired sections of several national and international ultrasound organizations, including WINFOCUS. He is a Master Educator level member of Mount Sinai’s Institute for Medical Education and was a scholar in the Harvard Macy Program for Educators in Health Professions.
He earned Excellence in Teaching awards from Mount Sinai as well as Harvard Medical School. He authored the leading Emergency Medicine Oral Board review text as well as several books on point of care ultrasound.
