Libertario Demi (Senior Member IEEE) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. (cum laude) degrees in telecommunication engineering from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 2006 and 2008, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in applied physics from the Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands, in 2013.

He has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, University of Trento, Trento, Italy.

He is the Founder and the Head of ULTRa (Ultrasound Lab Trento). He has active interests in lung ultrasound technology, beamforming, image analysis, physics modeling, and clinical studies.

He is the author of more than 170 peer-reviewed publications (95 international journal papers, 2 book chapters, 75 proceedings), 2 patents, 4 international best-poster awards, and many contributions to top international conferences, including invited talks.

Prof. Demi is Associate Editor of the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Editorial Board Member of Ultrasonics (Elsevier), and Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America.

He is also the general chair of the International Lung Ultrasound Symposium, serves as Medical Image and Signal Processing Track Lead of the IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, and was the Biomedical Acoustics Technical Program Organizer for the Meetings of the Acoustical Society of America from 2019 to 2023.
