Luna Gargani, MD, PhD

Luna Gargani is a Cardiologist and Researcher of the University of Pisa.

She has been trained in cardiology and clinical research at the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the National Research Council in Pisa, and has been a research fellow at Northwestern University in Chicago.

She is a recognized expert and a pioneer in lung ultrasound.

She is member of the Expert Committee that wrote the first International evidence-based recommendations for point-of-care lung ultrasound. Her experience in lung ultrasound is not only in heart failure, but also with patients on dialysis, rheumatic and pulmonary disease.

She has been involved with the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging since 2010 as Member of the Scientific Committee, Chair of the Transthoracic Echocardiography Section of the Certification and Accreditation Committee, Member of the Web & Communication Committee, and Member of Club 35.

She is currently the Echo deputy Chair of the Certification and Accreditation Committee.

She is Member of the Editorial Board of the journals European Heart Journal – Cardiovascular Imaging, Cardiovascular Ultrasound, Critical Ultrasound Journal, Journal of Scleroderma and Related Disorders.

Author and co-author of more than 160 scientific papers on international peer-reviewed journals (H-index = 50, i10 index = 104, total times cited = 11600 – Google Scholar data on November 2022).
