Martin Girard

Martin Girard, MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Girard completed his medical school and core Internal Medicine at McGill University. He subsequently trained in Anesthesiology and in adult Critical Care Medicine at University of Montreal.

He completed a 6-month advanced TEE fellowship with Pr. A. Vieillard-Baron at Ambroise-Paré Hospital (Paris, France) and a 12-month research and lung ultrasonography fellowship with Pr. J.-J. Rouby at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital (Paris, France).

Dr. Girard is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Université de Montréal and is practicing as an anesthesiologist and intensivist at the Centre Hospitalier de l´Université de Montréal in Montréal, Québec, Canada.

He completed in 2021 a Master´s degree in clinical research at Université de Montréal and he recently participated in the elaboration of international consensus recommendations for lung-protective ventilation for the surgical patient.

His main research interests are the use of lung ultrasonography to personalized mechanical ventilation and as a diagnostic tool for pneumonia.
